Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Lisandro Martinez was lucky not to sent off in Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at home to Chelsea.
“When you tackle the ball at knee height and don’t touch it, I think it’s a red card. Lisandro was very lucky,” Neville said.
Lisandro was book in stoppage time for ทางเข้า ufabet challenge on Cole Palmer. But Neville was surprised VAR did not show the Argentine defender a red card.
Former Premier League referee Mike Dean took a slightly different view, saying: “It wasn’t a huge impact. It wasn’t as bad as I first saw. It look more like a slash to the knee than a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent.”
However, United legend Roy Keane agrees with Neville and believes Martinez may not have appreciated Palmer’s ability to lift the ball to his advantage.
“He must have been unhappy with Palmer’s skills and made him look like a clown. It was an ugly challenge but didn’t make the full contact with Palmer and it was more on the side of the leg. But he could have sent off,” Keane said
